Job Description: Kanvas is looking for a Public Relations Director to support the company’s strategic communication efforts. The candidate will develop and execute communication strategies to engage key audiences across multiple communication channels. They are responsible for maintaining ongoing and active communication with Cannabis industry affiliates while advancing business goals. The candidate must be able to drive consumer adoption, improve brand awareness and aid in the establishment of Kanvas as a leading solutions provider. It is imperative that the candidate be an excellent communicator who is familiar with Enterprise business operations and well connected within the Cannabis industry. They must be goal-driven, strategic, and thrive on relentless execution.

Responsibilities:

  • Devise and execute communications strategies and campaigns to support the company's strategic objectives and brand goals.
  • Prepare press releases, talking points, speeches, and other supporting material as needed.
  • Develop a holistic approach to executive communications that strategically combines the most high-impact use of social and press.
  • Serve as a company spokesperson and communications advisor to Kanvas Senior Leadership as required.
  • Partner with internal teams to build and share Kanvas employment, brand and talent acquisition story.
  • Maintain active and ongoing engagement with Cannabis industry affiliates on Kanvas’ behalf.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • 5+ years’ work experience with a blend of agency, in-house and media expertise.
  • Exceptional global media relations contacts and track record of executing strategic, impactful media relations programs.
  • Experience working with world-class consumer/lifestyle brands with a strong emphasis in technology.
  • Experience counseling C-Suite level executives and develop personalized storylines within a cohesive corporate framework.
  • Proven experience working on complex programs in complex organizations going through significant transformational phases.
  • Strong knowledge of social media landscape, with demonstrated experience executing blended PR/social media campaigns.
  • Proven ability to set and deliver against measurable marketing metrics.
  • Ability to think creatively and to construct compelling stories. Must be able to work independently and without direction, as well as collaboratively with colleagues in various positions.
  • Must be a hands-on, active leader who loves to write and engage with media, influencers and other third parties.
  • Proven success developing research, segmentation, positioning, messaging, branding, creative development, campaign execution, go-to-market planning
  • Must be passionate for the Cannabis industry, social justice, and be committed to the Kanvas vision and mission.
  • Experience working within the technology or consumer industries.
  • Strong track record of success managing partnerships such as agency relationships.
  • Proven ability to develop creative, non-traditional solutions for challenging, undefined problems.
  • Proven success developing research, segmentation, positioning, messaging, branding, creative development, campaign execution, go-to-market planning
  • Strong project management skills, with experience developing and executing marketing strategy successfully while collaborating cross-functionally and building consensus.

Requirements:

  • BA/BS degree in Communications, English or related field
  • 5+ combined years of experience in B2C and B2B Product Marketing
  • Function-specific skills and experience: research, positioning, messaging, naming, branding, go-to-market planning, marketing asset development, campaign execution, Sales enablement, analyzing product and marketing data, etc.
  • Passion for working with technology products and solving user and customer needs
  • Strong track-record of growing product adoption, engagement, retention, customer success
  • Proven problem-solving and analytical capabilities
  • Ability to identify and implement scalable process improvements using a data-driven approach
  • Familiarity with CRM systems (Shopify or similar), marketing automation tools (Cision or similar) and tracking and analytics tools (Google Analytics or similar) to assess campaign effectiveness
  • Excellent communication skills in business and technical situations
  • Proven track-record of working with and influencing Senior Leadership
